You can't always see them but you know they are always there. "
Blast From The Past 2010
In 2010, New Friends had 155 members. Our Book Club grew so large that we expanded to an afternoon session. The February meeting was cancelled due to a blizzard...a first for the Club. We visited the Hillwood Museum during a Day Away. In May, we had a Spring Book Sale followed by our 2nd annual Spring Hat Luncheon in June.
A memorable speaker Sharon Jacko, retired U.S. Marine Corps Officer, spoke about the plight of women in Muslim countries. We were able to try on a burqa (unsettling). Later in the year, Sharon told us about the Women of Hope project, and in support, many members purchased beautiful crafts handmade by Afghani women.
